Finding the Los Angeles office, and getting in

Los Angeles covers the whole West, ten states from the Mexican border to the Arctic, and it is the mission that documents its own procedures best. Its website spells out fees, processing times and what to bring, which is more than most Pakistani consulates anywhere do.

Two practical warnings. Google still shows an old address on Wilshire Boulevard; the consulate is at 10700 Santa Monica Boulevard. And once you are in the building, consular applicants enter through Suite 209, not Suite 211, which is the number on every listing.

10 of them, set by the Ministry circular of September 2012:

Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington.

Errands that no longer reach this counter

The counter is not the only route, and for four procedures it is not a route at all any more.

The exception is a first or replacement passport: biometrics are taken at the counter and cannot be sent in.
