Philippine Consulate in Nevada

Nevada

Nevada is one of only two states in the country whose Philippine consular jurisdiction is split by county. The three southern counties (Clark, which contains Las Vegas, plus Nye and Lincoln) belong to Los Angeles. Carson City and the thirteen northern counties belong to San Francisco. There is a Philippine honorary consulate in Las Vegas.

Note what that means. An honorary consulate cannot issue a passport, administer the dual citizenship oath or notarise a document. For those you need the full consulate below.

Which consulate covers your county in Nevada

Nevada is split between two consulates general, and the line is drawn by county, not by region or by distance. This is the single most useful thing to check before booking anything: an appointment at the wrong consulate is a wasted appointment.

Counties Consulate Where
Clark, Lincoln, Nye Consulate General in Los Angeles 3435 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 550, Los Angeles, CA 90010
Carson City and the 13 northern counties: Churchill, Douglas, Elko, Esmeralda, Eureka, Humboldt, Lander, Lyon, Mineral, Pershing, Storey, Washoe and White Pine Consulate General in San Francisco 447 Sutter Street, 6th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94108

In practice this means Las Vegas is served from Los Angeles, four hours away by road, while Reno and Carson City are served from San Francisco. The two halves of Nevada do not share a Philippine consulate.

Before you plan the journey

A large share of the trips people make to a Philippine consulate were never necessary. These three are handled entirely elsewhere:

The short version: PSA certificates are ordered online from Manila, apostilles on documents issued in Nevada come from the state's own competent authority, since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them, and the NBI clearance travels by mail; only its fingerprint card needs a consular officer.

What does require you in person is anything carrying your biometrics or your signature: a passport, the oath of allegiance and a special power of attorney.

Las Vegas is the clearest case in the country of a city that needs the outreach missions: a very large and fast-growing Filipino community, no career consular office, and a four-hour drive to Los Angeles. Missions there are announced periodically and the appointments are free.

philippineconsulates.us is an independent information guide to the Philippine consulates in the United States. We are not the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Embassy or any government agency. We do not book, sell or manage appointments: every consulate runs its own system. We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
