What can be done without leaving home

Three of the most searched Philippine procedures in the United States are not consular procedures at all, and knowing that is worth more than knowing the opening hours:

The short version: PSA certificates are ordered online from Manila, apostilles on documents issued in Maryland come from the state's own competent authority, since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them, and the NBI clearance travels by mail; only its fingerprint card needs a consular officer.

Everything else, though, is worth the journey precisely because it cannot be done any other way, passport biometrics, the oath, and a signature on a special power of attorney witnessed in person.

Remember that the consular section is at the Chancery Annex, 1617 Massachusetts Avenue NW, and not at the Embassy building at 1600. And that visa and civil registry applications there are accepted by mail only.
